Incident Report: Security Upgrade and Intermittent Login Problems

Hi ElephantDrive Nation,

We always prefer to highlight our exciting accomplishments here, but we also feel it is important to chronicle any problems we have.

Today (February 4th, 2009), we performed some routine security upgrades to our web application servers. The duration of the upgrade process took longer than originally anticipated and as a result we experienced intermittent login problems between 4:00pm and 5:30 pm Pacific Standard Time. The upgrade has been completed and all systems are operating normally at this time. The problems were limited to login issues and no account data was affected in anyway.

We thank those users who were affected for the patience, as well as those that alerted us of problems for their vigilance and support.

We’ll work to improve our procedures in the future.
